ATHENS METRO – 1.2 billion EURO granted by the European Investment Bank to ATTIKO METRO S.A.

Thessaloniki Metro Base Project

On November 28th 2012, ATTIKO METRO S.A. completed all procedures required, so that the disbursement of the loan agreement concerning the Thessaloniki Metro Base Project can commence within the forthcoming week. The subject loan agreement’s duration is 30 years, it grants a 10-year grace period and it amounts to 250,000,000.00€. Moreover, the offered and exceptionally advantageous rate that has been agreed upon (fixed throughout the loan agreement duration) is 3.743%.

Metro Extension to Piraeus

In cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB), ATTIKO METRO S.A. is scheduling the disbursement of the loan agreement for the Extension of the Metro Line 3 to Piraeus amounting to 250,000,000.00€ in the first 2-month period of 2012. This amount constitutes the first instalment of the overall credit of 550,000,000.00€ approved by the EIB for this Project. Moreover, within the next few months, ATTIKO METRO S.A. is scheduling to conclude the loan agreement pertaining to the second instalment amounting to 300,000,000.00€ of the credit approved for the Metro Extension to Piraeus.

Metro Extension to Kalamaria

In addition, the EIB examined with due diligence all necessary details and data, further to the application filed by ATTIKO METRO S.A. for a loan amounting to 400,000,000.00 € concerning Thessaloniki Metro Extension to Kalamaria. The approval by the Board of Directors of the EIB is anticipated in February 2013.

On the occasion of the loan agreement, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director, made the following statements:

“This accomplishment of ours proves, on the one hand, the confidence and satisfaction of the European Investment Bank in ATTIKO METRO S.A. Projects and know-how and, on the other hand, the EIB’s actual support to the Greek economy, since, despite the relentless economic crisis, this huge amount of money will be disbursed immediately”.
