Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A., presented in detail all aspects of the Metro and Tramway networks extensions to Piraeus during a special one-day conference organized by Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday October 15th, 2012.
During this conference, greetings were addressed by the Chairman of the Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. G. Kassimatis, the Chairman of Piraeus Chamber of Industry, Mr. A Michalaros, the Chairman of Piraeus Commercial Association, Mr. G. Zissimatos, the General Secretary of the Municipality of Piraeus, Mr. S. Diamantidis and the Chief of Piraeus Traffic Police, Mr. S. Laskos; these participants pointed out the benefits from the extension of the two Fixed Track Modes to the principal Port of Greece, in particular, their contribution in the resolution of Piraeus traffic problems, the city’s aesthetic upgrading, the improvement of the quality of the citizens daily life, their environmental aspects, and their contribution in boosting local economy and development.
Further on, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A., made a detailed presentation of the Metro (currently under construction) and the Tramway (to commence soon) extensions to Piraeus, pointing out the significance of these two projects not only in terms of traffic benefits but also in terms of the redevelopment works and aesthetic interventions to be concurrently carried out in the city of Piraeus.
In addition, Mr. Christos Tsitouras announced that another one-day conference will be held dedicated exclusively to the extension of the Tramway network to Piraeus upon signing of the relevant contract of this project.
This one-day conference was attended by Piraeus Members of Parliament (MPs) Messrs. Κ. Katsafados, Th. Dritsas, M. Repoussi, A. Nerantzis and M. Giannakaki, the Regional Vice Governor of the Islands Mr. D. Katsikaris, the General Secretary of the Municipality of Piraeus, Mr. S. Diamantidis, the Chairman of the Piraeus Municipal Council Mr. P. Kouvatsos, the Regional Counselor of the Islands Mr. S. Spyridon, the member of Piraeus municipal council Mr. A. Kalogerogiannis, the Chairman of Piraeus Association of Attorneys Mr. S. Manoussakis, the General Manager of OLP and Chairman of MedCruise Mr. S. Hatzakos, the Chairman of the National Confederation of Commence Mr. V. Korkidis, the Chairman of the Federation of Commercial Associations of Attica/ Adjacent Prefectures and the Aegean Islands Mr. D. Armenakis, the Vice-Chairman and the General Secretary of Piraeus Association of Professionals Ms. A. Verykokidou and V. Mouzakis respectively, Chairmen of other Associations and representatives of various agencies, ATTIKO METRO S.A. executives, as well as by businessmen of the city of Piraeus who actively participated in the conference by raising questions about the subject projects.
