AGHIA SOFIA Station – Temporary traffic arrangements

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented as of Monday August 31st 2009 within the framework of the construction of AGHIA SOFIA Metro Station.

  • The worksite occupation is relocated at the middle of Egnatia Street, at the section delimited by its interesection with Mitropolitou Genadiou street up to Stefanou Tatti street.Egnatias Street will keep its two traffic lanes per direction on on both sides of the worksite occupation.
  • Left turn of all vehicles from Platonos street into Egnatia street is prohibited.All vehicles moving downstream on Platonos street wishing to follow the east-bound direction of Egnatia street will have to use Ioustinianou and Mitropolitoy Genadiou streets.
  • The pedestrian passageway on Egnatia street, between Meneleaou, Bakatselou and Platonos street is abolished. All pedestrians on the southern sidewalk of Egnatia street wishing to cross Egnatia street will use the footpaths at the intersection of Egnatia street with Plateia Aristelous and Mitropolitou Genadiou streets.
  • The section of Aghias Sofias street from its intersection with Egnatia street up to Keramopoulou street is converted into a two-way street and there will be one traffic lane per direction.

The anticipated duration of all the above traffic arrangements is 3 months.

Throughout the execution of the construction works, the work crews of the contracting consortium will make all possible efforts not to disrupt the operation of the adjacent businesses.
