PROGRESS OF WORKS FOR 2010

December 2010



By the end of 2010, the 2 TBMs had constructed a total of 7,628 meters of ready tunnel (single track).

The construction of the roof slab at the north part of FLEMING Station is completed.

The works for the temporary steel bridge at the south section of DEMOKRATIAS Station are in progress, while the archaeological survey is currently in progress.



November 2010


The first TBM has constructed 3,826m. of complete tunnel and the second TBM 3,404m.

The excavation works at FLEMING & ANALIPSI Stations are in progress, while the PUO network diversion works have started at PATRIKIOU Station.




October 2010


The construction of the diaphragm walls at 11 locations of the Project has been completed.

Until the present date, both TBMs have constructed 50% of the Metro tunnels.

The progress of the archaeological excavation works in the 5 central Stations has reached 40%.



September 2010


The first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM1) continues its drive having bored 3,496m of tunnel, while the second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM2) has constructed 3,153m of the twin tunnel.

The works for the construction of the roof slab at EFKLIDIS Station are in progress.




August 2010


The first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM1), which has already bored 3,000m of tunnel, has been re-launched. The second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM2) is anticipated to be re-launched soon (2,714m of tunnel).

The construction of the floor slab at the first underground level of EFKLIDIS Station is in progress.



July 2010



The construction of the roof slab at FLEMING Station, PANEPISTIMIO Station and the NEW RAILWAY STATION is in progress.

The works for the PUO network diversions in ANALIPSI and PATRIKIOU Stations are in progress, while the works for the construction of the Diaphragm Walls at ANALIPSI Station have commenced.

The archaeological excavation works at the following positions of the Project, namely FLEMING Station, SINTRIVANI Station, AGHIA SOFIA Station, VENIZELOU Station, DIMOKRATIAS Station and NEW RAILWAY STATION, are in progress.

June 2010


The construction of diaphragm walls at PANEPISTIMIO and FLEMING Station is completed.






May 2010


The works for the construction of the roof slab at the forestation of the NEW RAILWAY Station are in progress (at a percentage of 75%).

The archaeological excavation at several locations of the project is in progress.
The preparatory works at PAPAFI Station and in Pyleas Depot have commenced.



April 2010


Works related to the construction of EFKLIDIS, PANEPISTIMIO and FLEMING Stations are in progress.

Works related to PUO network diversions at the eastern section of the project are in progress.



Ìarch 2010


Excavation works for the construction of the roof slab at EFKLIDIS Station are in progress.

Works related to the construction of the metal bridge at VENIZELOU Station (southern section of Egnatias street) were completed.
The archaeological investigation is in progress at DEMOKRATIAS Station, at NEOS SIDIRODROMIKOS STATHMOS as well as at VENIZELOU, SINTRIVANI and PANEPISTIMIO Stations.

February 2010


Maintenance works are carried out at both TBMs which have constructed 2,714m of parallel tunnel and are installed at SINTRIVANI Station.

Works related to the diversion of pipe at AGHIA SOFIA Station.
The construction of diaphragm walls at PANEPISTIMIO and FLEMING worksites is in progress.


January 2010


The second Tunnel Boring Machine (ÔÂÌ2) reached the worksite of the Station at PANEPISTIMIO, thus having constructed 2,720m of parallel tunnel.

The construction of diaphragm walls at EFKLIDIS Station was completed.
