ATHENS METRO - EU COMMISSIONER’s BRIEFING ON ATTIKO METRO ISSUES

The EU Commissioner for research, innovation and science, Ms. Máire Geoghegan – Quinn, visited ATTIKO METRO stand in the framework of the 4^th Transport Research Arena – TRA 2012 Conference organized in our country and hosted by Megaro Moussikis Athinon (Athens Concert Hall).

The Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, provided information to the Commissioner about the activities of the company, the projects already in progress and the company’s development plan, as well as about the forthcoming participation of ATTIKO METRO in research programs relevant to its scope of works.

Finally, Mr. Tsitouras informed the Commissioner on the new technologies incorporated in ATTIKO METRO projects, given that the operation of the Metro system calls for the design, integration and coordination of 46 different and absolutely specialized E/M systems. The above ensure the smooth, safe and effective operation of Metro Projects which are highly prioritized in the framework of the sustainable mobility throughout the urban areas, which constitutes the EU’s principal objective in the field of transportation.
