By order of the Traffic Police, ATTIKO METRO S.A. interrupted the tramway circulation for safety reasons further to the unfortunate event of a fire that burst onto a listed building located on Omiridou Skylitsi Street on 03.01.2020 adjacent to the tramway.
Further to this incident, this privately owned building had to be demolished – as stated by the bodies concerned – while, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Piraeus, the relevant technical and legal procedures have been initiated.
Moreover, in order to ensure the unhindered circulation of the tramway vehicles and the commencement of the revenue service, the works for the redevelopment of Faliro Bay, falling under the competence of Region of Attica and currently in progress, must have been completed beforehand.
