TRAMWAY EXTENSION TO PIRAEUS
Notification of Electrification of the Overhead Catenary and
of the Commencement of the Tramway Vehicles Trial Operation
ATTIKO METRO S.A. hereby informs the public about the electrification of the Overhead Catenary of the Tramway extension to Piraeus as of the night hours of Monday October 18th 2021, due to the imminent commencement of the trial operation.
The Overhead Catenary has been installed at the following streets:
- Possidonos Avenue (Karaiskaki football court),
- Mikras Asias
- Grigoriou Lambraki
- Vassileos Georgiou
- Akti Possidonos
- Ethnikis Antistasseos Avenue
- Omiridou Skylitsi up to the Piece & Friendship Stadium (SEF)
and will be now under 750V DC voltage.
In view of the Electrification of the Overhead Catenary of the Tramway Line in Piraeus, ATTIKO METRO S.A. points out to the public, the machine operators and the vehicle drivers not to come close to the Tramway power supply networks (ducts, cables, poles, cantilevers, insulators etc.), since there are serious risks of electrocution, accidents, injuries, fire, damage to the Tramway power supply network etc.
Kindly be informed that, given the forthcoming revenue service of the Tramway vehicles, the line must be free of vehicles and any kind of obstacles, while drivers of vehicles, motorbikes and pedestrians must be particularly vigilant to avoid any collision with the operating vehicles of the Tramway system.
