GALATSI STATION
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS
ATTIKO METRO S.A., the public company which plans, designs, puts to tender and supervises the construction of Metro and Tramway projects in Athens and Thessaloniki, is currently constructing the new Metro Line 4, Section A’ –“AlsosVeikou – Goudi”. This project includes fifteen (15) new underground stations, namely: AlsosVeikou, Galatsi, Elikonos, Kypseli, Dikastiria, Alexandras, Exarchia, Akadimia, Kolonaki, Evangelismos, Kaissariani, Panepistimioupoli, Ilissia, Zografou and Goudi, as well as nine (9) intermediate and/or terminal shafts.
The construction of the New Athens Metro Line 4– Section A’ “AlsosVeikou – Goudi” is already under way through preliminary worksconcerning designs/studies, gradual installation of worksites, archaeological investigation and relocation of the Public Utility Organization Networks (DEDDIE networks, sewage, water supply, telecommunications, natural gas) and the necessary traffic arrangements.
In the framework of the construction works for GALATSI Station, located at the junction of Omorfoklisias (Veikou) Avenue withthe intersection of AghiasGlykeriasStreet with Galatsiou Avenue in the Municipality of Galatsi, preliminary works have already commenced and it is indispensable for the necessary traffic regulations to be implemented in view of the execution of the project.
It is noted that during the preparation of the designs for the preliminary traffic arrangements special care has been taken so as to minimize the unavoidable disturbance that will be created in the wider area, keep traffic circulation on the streets and ensure the supply of the shops, vehicle loading/unloading, manage passenger embarkation/disembarkation at OASA stops and be at the service of the residents during the implementation phase of the subject traffic arrangements.
In view of the above, the following traffic arrangements will take place from 12.11.2022to 25.12.2022:
PHASE 1 (3 WEEKS)
During Phase 1 of the traffic arrangements, circulation shall be prohibited on the right lane of Galatsiou Avenue, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to ProtopapadakiStreet, from Pythagora Street up to the junction with AghiasGlykerias Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited on the right lane of ProtopapadakiStreet, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Tourkovounia, from AghiasGlykerias Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sections on the middle lane of the Street up to El. Venizelou Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited on the right lane of Veikou Avenue, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Galatsiou Avenue, from Skra Street up to Artemidos Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited on Ippokratous Street in sections from AghiasGlykerias Street up to LyssiouStreet where vehicles shall be allowed to circulate. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited on Lyssiou Street from Ippokratous Street up to Galatsiou Avenue, while traffic circulation shall be prohibited on Ekatis and Artemidos Streets from Mavrogenous Street up to Veikou Avenue.
PHASE 2 (2 WEEKS)
During Phase 2, traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sections on Ippokratous Street. A section of the asphalt pavement shall be blocked onProfiti Ilia and in El. VenizelouStreetswhere vehicles shall be allowed to circulate. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited at the left and the middle lane of ProtopapadakiStreet, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Tourkovounia, from AghiasGlykerias to El. Venizelou Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sectionsat the middle and the left lane of Veikou Avenue,and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Galatsiou Avenue, from Skra to Artemidos Streets.
PHASE 3(10 DAYS)
During Phase 3 traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sections at the two left lanes on both traffic directions of Galatsiou Avenue from its junction with Veikou Avenue and up to Lyssiou Street. Traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sections at AghiasGlykeria Street, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Veikou Avenue, while traffic circulation shall be also prohibited in the service road of ProtopapadakiStreet.
PHASE 4 (1 WEEK)
During Phase 4 traffic circulation shall be prohibited at the right lane of Galatsiou Avenue, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to ProtopapadakiStreet, between Lyssiou and AghisGlykerias Streets, while traffic circulation shall be prohibited in sections at AghiasGlykerias Street at the traffic lane with direction to Kypseli.
PHASE 5 (1 WEEK)
During Phase 5 traffic circulation shall be prohibited in parts at the right and the middle lane of PropopapadakiStreet, and more precisely at the traffic lane with direction to Tourkovounia, between AghiasGlykerias and El. Venizelou Streets for the high voltage works executed by DEDDIE.
