Project progress

The most extensive transport project of Thessaloniki, a modern Metro network of high aesthetics, comes to life. More than 650 persons of various disciplines work on a daily basis for Thessaloniki Metro, while a total of 16 worksite areas have been developed throughout the city by the contracting Joint Venture.

Thessaloniki Metro, a 9.6 km network, shall have 13 modern stations, 18 fully automatic and air-conditioned trains, as well as platform screen doors in all stations, ensuring the provision of the optimum services to the passengers and their maximum safety. A 50,000 m2 depot is also foreseen in the area of Pylea.

It is worth pointing out that by incorporating state-of-the-art technical features in combination with the most stringent quality and operability standards, Thessaloniki Metro shall become the most advanced Metro network in Europe.

PROGRESS OF WORKS

June 2018

• NEW RAILWAY Station: E/M installations in progress (water network).

• DIMOKRATIAS Station: The installation of metal doors at levels -1 and -2 of the station and the backfilling of the south access of the station are completed. The construction of the station’s walls and the implementation of traffic regulation – phase K’ at the intersection are in progress.

• VENIZELOU Station & crossover: Walls are completed at levels -1 and -2 of the station; traffic arrangement phase K’ in completed. The construction of pedestals for E/M equipment is in progress.

• AGIA SOFIA Station: the construction of the mezzanine slab at the south part is in progress.

• SINTRIVANI Station – EXPO: In progress are painting works, the construction of walls and E/M installation works (cable trays, earthing, fire fighting, automatic fire extinguishing, fire detection, ventilation & A/C, escalators handrails and decking, lighting).

• PANEPISTIMIO Station: Wall cladding with granite tiles is in progress.

• EFKLIDIS Station: Painting works are in progress.

• FLEMING Station: Wall cladding with ceramic tiles, granite slabs flooring and E/M installations (lighting, BACS cablework) are in progress.

• ANALIPSI Station & Crossover: In progress are works for the installation of floors, wall plastering and painting works on ceilings and walls.

• 25 MARTIOU Station & Crossover: The construction of the west access has been completed; the construction of the east emergency staircase and E/M installations (water supply, sewage, escalator decking) in progress.

• NEA ELVETIA Station: Backfilling works, construction of walls and plastering, painting and E/M installations (fire fighting) in progress.

• Depot – Building Complex I: The following works are in progress: installation of window frames, construction of compartments and lining by gypsum boards, construction of industrial floors and E/M installations, as well as the installation of rails in the workshop building.

Building Complex II: is progress are the construction of compartments in the OCC and in building 9, E/M installations and rail installation.

Surrounding area: painting of retaining walls and configuration of bases for walls is in progress.

• TBM Tunnel: Rails have been distributed in the tunnel from KP 1+900 to KP 5+800. Waterproofing works are in progress

• Cut & Cover (C&C) and NATM Tunnels: In progress are the traffic arrangements in the area between Allatini – Kanellopoulou (section III), as well as surface and PUO networks reinstatement works, in section IV.

NEW RAILWAY Station: the configuration of the surrounding area is in progress.

• DIMOKRATIAS Station: The installation of metal doors at levels -1 and -2 of the station and the backfilling of the south access of the station are completed. The construction of the station’s walls and the implementation of traffic regulation – phase K’ at the intersection are in progress.

• VENIZELOU Station: The dismantling of diaphragm walls in the areas of the north and south access is in progress.

• SINTRIVANI Station – EXPO: Completed are the construction of the south access, the construction of terminations and parapet walls at the south access and the configuration of the surrounding area at the south access. In progress is the implementation of traffic arrangement – phase E’.

• PAPAFI Station: The following works are in progress: painting of the shafts, wall cladding with ceramic tiles, construction of gypsum boards and E/M installations (cable trays, earthing, sewage, fire fighting, fire detection, HVAC air ducts).

• EFKLIDIS Station: Floor lining with granite tiles at level -1 has been completed. In progress are the configuration of the surrounding area, the installation of balustrades at the emergency exit staircases and the wall cladding with granite slabs.

• FLEMING Station: Painting works are completed, while is progress is the installation of metal doors, the installation of outdoor grating at the ventilation shafts, as well as the E/M installations (sewage, fire fighting, fire detection, LV cables, lighting, blast shafts equipment).

• ANALIPSI Station & Crossover: In progress are works for the construction of industrial floors, wall plastering and painting works at the crossover and the Station shafts.

• 25 MARTIOU Station & Crossover: The construction of the east access has been completed, while painting works and works for the installation of metal doors are in progress.

• NEA ELVETIA Station and Crossover: The construction of the south access of the station, as well as of the PPC manhole has been completed. In progress are waterproofing works at the south access and in the PPC manhole, works for the installation of metal doors in the station, painting works at the crossover and E/M works (water supply, sewage).

• Depot – Building Complex I: The following works are in progress: construction of skylights on the roof of the metal structure, installation of window frames and the construction of gypsum board lining in sanitary areas, the offices and building No. 7. Building Complex II: The following works are in progress: construction of gypsum boards in OCC and in building No. 9, the construction of roof at section IV, the construction of side coverings at the north façade of the OCC and the installation of rails.

• Cut & Cover (C&C) and NATM Tunnels: (EYATH) pipes currently returned to their original location at sections II and III, while the reinstatement of sidewalks on Allatini street is in progress.
